Physiotherapy for Mobility problems and falls mitigation

Mobility Problems

Mobility Problems are particularly for people who had a recent illness, infection, or hospital admission that affected their walking. It focuses on assessments and interventions for adults (with or without an assistive device), who have difficulty with gait, balance, falls, and endurance.

A geriatric assessment will be part of the evaluation for older adults, and K7 Physiotherapy will assist in the development of a comprehensive treatment plan and support you to achieve your goal.

Falls Mitigation

We can help you reduce your risk of falling and falls-related injuries. We do this through a detailed assessment of your health, medicines, strength, balance, and walking. The assessments are carried out in your own environment. The assessment involves finding out about your falls, near-misses, or fear of falling, reviewing your medicines, going through your medical history and previous tests, assessing your general health, checking your heart and blood pressure, doing detailed assessments of your strength, balance and walking, checking your walking aid and footwear. When we’ve done this, we are usually able to identify several things that will increase your risk of falling. We will then work with you and your GP to create a plan to reduce those risks. The plan may include tests that can be done by your GP, including changes to your medicines, changes to your footwear or walking aid, or repeat eye test with your optician, and it will almost certainly include a program of strength and balance training with our Registered Exercise Professionals.

Neurological Physiotherapy

Neurology Physiotherapy

The physiotherapists at K 7 Physiotherapy have many years of experience working in neurological physiotherapy, treating a multitude of conditions, the most common being Stroke, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury, and Multiple Sclerosis. We provide treatment at home or in a clinic and provide a plan specific to the needs of the individual.

Stroke

We can help people with Stroke or Brain Injury achieve their maximum functional potential. We specialise in hand and arm rehabilitation and in getting people back on their feet. We can also deal with neuropathic pain, sensory abnormalities, and perceptual defects. It doesn't matter if you had stroke a long time ago, we have the opportunity to improve your quality of life.

Parkinson's Disease

We can help people with Parkinson's disease with limb stiffness, posture, and mobility. Our intervention will help minimise rapid decline in function and help improve quality of life. We can address many issues suffered by people with Parkinson's, including coaching on maintaining independence.

Multiple Sclerosis

We help people with Multiple Sclerosis maintain and improve functions by addressing issues such as spasticity, declining motor functions, and sensory alterations. We can build on whatever the patient currently has and improve those abilities, so life can be easy, and independence can be maintained.

Our treatments can help people with a neurological condition achieve their personal goals of maximum fitness, function, and quality of life:
